I AM The Door, The Light, and The Truth

I AM The Door, The Light, and The Truth:

(Genesis 19:8-11/ Matthew 9:27-31/ Matthew 11:4-6 outside of plan reading John 9:39-41, John 10:9, John 14:6)

The two angels who visit Sodom and guests in Lot’s house are threatened by a mob of evil men. Lot tries to offer his own solution to the evil mob by offering up his two daughters. it fails. This evil among the men can only be quashed by God’s might “But the men [the angels] reached out their hands and brought Lot into the house with them and shut the door. And they [the angels] struck with blindness the men who were at the entrance of the house, both small and great, so that they wore themselves out groping for the door.”

The men of the city, blinded, groping for the door they could not see…

Sodom and Gomorrah’s culture became entirely evil. I often speculated how that can happened to a city, country, or group of people. It is human nature and our sinful flesh that battles against the Word of God and His Truth. And when we decide “that’s not my truth” it is turning our faces away from God. We then become blind to what Truth is, grouping, we can’t find the door. And we grow weary looking for that door in our blindness, eventually coming to the conclusion that perhaps there was never a door to be found in the first place. Leading us to take matters into our own hands, to make our own doors, we become the door, we begin thinking “My way is the way, my truth is the truth.” Slowly making ourselves into gods.

We are all blinded by sin, groping in the darkness of this world, our intensions are evil to the core. God sent Jesus to heal us and to have mercy on us. Jesus is the door, do not give up groping in the darkness for He is the only WAY through, for He is the LIGHT to guide us to the door, and He is the TRUTH that will keep us in Him.
